Foundation Degrees (FDs) are a new flexible professional qualification. They allow learners to develop the skills and knowledge required by today’s employers. FDs are designed to be practical, with some work being undertaken in the workplace. Successful completion of an FD will allow learners to progress to a relevant Honours degree. These work-related qualifications have been developed in partnership with employers to encourage talented people of all ages into Higher Education. Flexible study methods make them ideal if students are already in work. Graduates will have the specialist technical knowledge and skills to increase their career opportunities. There are Foundation Degrees available for full-time study over two years or part-time over three years. A significant proportion of the programme can be completed in the workplace or through relevant work-related learning. If completed successfully students may join the final years of an Honours degree programme at the University of Teesside. Entry Criteria The criteria for entry onto Foundation Degrees are based on the ability to succeed on the programme.
On some of the Foundation Degree courses learners are required to be in employment. Listed below are some of the courses currently available, and under development, at FE+ colleges. Please note that future courses may not run if student numbers are low. Please contact the individual institution to confirm details.
